FMECA electrical and control systems in subsea BOP

MAR Consulting facilitated and documented an FMECA of electrical and control systems of a major drilling contractor’s subsea BOP. Purpose of the FMECA MAR Consulting facilitated the failure mode, effects and criticality analysis (FMECA) based on the methodology described on international standard IEC60812. However, the purpose was significantly different than most FMECA workshops. Typically, external resources perform an FMECA to evaluate a design with the objective to unveil its weaknesses (and strengths). As a result, this information can form the basis of a cost-benefit analysis for design improvement opportunities. In this project, however, in addition to the above, the drilling contractor/operator will use […]

FPSO availability effect on 3rd party liquid evacuation

MAR Consulting performed an availability study of a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO), which will be operating in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The development plan envisages the use of an FPSO with full offshore processing capabilities of the reservoir fluids. Conditioned gas will be exported to shore and tie-in to the country’s gas distribution grid. The associated light oil will be exported offshore by tandem offloading to a shuttle tank. The FPSO storage tanks were being considered to evacuate a third-party operator light oil from a nearby field, in addition to the light oil from the FPSO’s own operating field. […]

Production efficiency of a floating production storage and offloading

MAR Consulting AS assisted on producing a reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) analysis of a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit to be stationed in the Norwegian continental shelf. The initial model in the front-end engineering (FEED) phase has the objective of estimating the production efficiency of the current configuration, providing insight on bad actors and basis for modifications to improve the production efficiency.
